During the academic year, the Materials Science and Engineering Department conducts a Seminar Series. Guest lecturers are invited to speak to graduate students and faculty; these speakers are chosen from a variety of disciplines within Materials Science and Engineering to generate wide appeal within the department. One of the purposes of the seminar series is to broaden our students intellectually and to aid in their professional development by providing another connection with the world of industry and business.

Participation in the departmental seminars is mandatory for all full-time graduate students; additionally these seminars are free and open to the public. Refreshments are served before each seminar to give students and guests an opportunity to meet the guest speaker.
